Baked potato

Baked potatoes are whole potatoes cooked in the oven until the inside is soft and fluffy, with a slightly crispy skin.


🥔 Basic Baked Potato

🧾 Ingredients

  • Potato (large)
  • Oil or butter
  • Salt
  • Optional toppings: cheese, sour cream, herbs, black pepper

🍳 How to make it

  1. Preheat oven
    Set to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Prepare potatoes
    Wash well and dry. Poke a few holes with a fork.
  3. Season skin
    Rub with a little oil and salt.
  4. Bake
    Place directly on oven rack or tray. Bake for 45–60 minutes.
  5. Check doneness
    Skin should be crisp and inside soft when pierced.
  6. Serve
    Cut open and fluff inside with a fork. Add butter or toppings.

  • Butter + salt (classic)
  • Cheese + sour cream
  • Chives or herbs
  • Chicken, beans, or veggies for a full meal

🔥 Tips

  • Bigger potatoes = fluffier inside
  • Don’t wrap in foil if you want crispy skin
  • Microwave first (5–6 min) to speed up cooking, then bake for crispiness
