Shrimp pie is a savory dish where shrimp (prawns) are baked inside a crust or topped with pastry—similar to a pot pie. It’s creamy, comforting, and popular in coastal cuisines. Here’s a simple homemade version you can try. 🥧🍤


Easy Shrimp Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked shrimp (peeled & chopped)
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup peas or mixed vegetables (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 sheet pie crust or puff pastry
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 180 °C (350 °F).
  2. Cook filling:
    • Melt butter in a pan.
    • Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft.
    • Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
  3. Make sauce:
    • Slowly add milk/cream while stirring until thick.
  4. Add shrimp:
    • Mix in shrimp, vegetables, salt, pepper, and paprika.
    • Cook 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. Assemble pie:
    • Pour filling into a pie dish.
    • Cover with pie crust or puff pastry.
    • Brush top with beaten egg.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
