Pork roast with apples

Posted on March 27, 2026 by Admin

Pork roast with apples is a classic sweet-and-savory dish—juicy meat paired with soft, slightly caramelized apples. The natural sweetness of apples balances the richness of pork beautifully.

🍎 Pork Roast with Apples Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1–1.5 kg pork roast (shoulder or loin)
  • 2–3 apples (peeled, sliced)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 3–4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp thyme (or mixed herbs)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional, but great with apples)
  • ½ cup apple juice or stock

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Rub the pork with salt, pepper, and herbs.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and sear the pork on all sides until browned.
  4. Place sliced apples and onions in a baking dish, add garlic, then place the pork on top.
  5. Pour apple juice/stock into the dish.
  6. Cover with foil and roast for 60–90 minutes (depending on size).
  7. Remove foil in the last 20–30 minutes to let it brown.
  8. Let the meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • With mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables
  • With rice or soft bread
  • Spoon the apple-onion mixture over the sliced pork for extra flavor

🔥 Tips:

  • Use slightly tart apples (like Granny Smith) for better balance
  • Don’t skip searing—it adds depth of flavor
  • Baste occasionally with juices for extra moisture

⚠️ Note:

If pork isn’t something you eat, you can easily substitute with chicken or beef—the apple pairing still works really well.

If you want, I can give you a halal-friendly version (like apple chicken roast) 👍
