🥩 Pork Chop

Pork chop is a cut of meat from the loin of a pig, often cooked by grilling, frying, baking, or broiling. Pork chops are a versatile protein that can be seasoned simply or paired with marinades, herbs, or sauces.

🥘 Types of Pork Chops

  1. Bone-in chops – more flavorful and juicier due to the bone.
  2. Boneless chops – leaner and cook faster.
  3. Rib chops – cut from the rib section, tender with some fat.
  4. Sirloin chops – from the rear loin, slightly tougher but flavorful.

👨‍🍳 Basic Cooking Method

Ingredients

  • 2 pork chops (bone-in or boneless)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Optional: garlic, herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)

Steps

  1. Season
    • Pat pork chops dry and season both sides with salt and pepper (and herbs if using).
  2. Cook on stovetop
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Sear pork chops 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Finish in oven (optional)
    • Transfer to a preheated oven at 180°C / 350°F for 5–10 minutes if thicker chops.
  4. Rest and serve
    • Let rest 3–5 minutes before serving to retain juices.

🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • 🥔 Mashed potatoes or roasted potatoes
  • 🥦 Steamed or sautéed vegetables
  • 🍏 Applesauce or pan sauce with mustard or wine

💡 Tip: For extra tenderness, brine pork chops in saltwater for 30 minutes before cooking.
