Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Posted on March 17, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a fun, indulgent twist on a classic—Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes combine the cheesy, savory flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with the messy goodness of a sloppy joe 🍔🧀🥩

🥩 Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:

  • 500 g ground beef (or thinly sliced steak for more authenticity)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or American cheese
  • 4–6 hamburger buns
  • 1–2 tbsp oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Cook the veggies
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and bell pepper until soft, 5–6 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
  2. Cook the beef
Add ground beef (or steak strips) to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, Worcestershire, and soy sauce. Cook until browned and fully cooked.
  3. Combine and melt cheese
Reduce heat to low, sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef and veggies. Cover the skillet for 1–2 minutes to melt the cheese.
  4. Assemble sandwiches
Toast buns if desired. Spoon cheesy beef and veggie mixture onto each bun.
  5. Serve hot
Optional: add pickles or hot sauce for extra flavor.

✨ Tips:

  • Thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin) gives a more authentic Philly flavor.
  • Use hoagie rolls instead of buns for a more classic presentation.
  • You can also stir in a little cream cheese for an ultra-creamy sloppy joe.

If you want, I can make a quick stovetop version that’s extra saucy, or a baked cheesy version that’s gooey and melty like a restaurant Philly cheesesteak 😄
