🍪 Oat Crisps

Oat crisps are thin, crunchy cookies or snack bars made primarily from oats. They are popular as a healthy snack because oats provide fiber, whole grains, and slow-digesting energy. They can be sweetened lightly with honey, sugar, or dried fruit, and sometimes include nuts or chocolate.

🥘 Typical Ingredients

  • Rolled oats or quick oats
  • Flour (all-purpose or whole wheat)
  • Butter or oil
  • Sweetener (sugar, honey, or maple syrup)
  • Optional add-ins:
    • Dried fruit (raisins, cranberries)
    • Nuts (almonds, walnuts)
    • Chocolate chips or cocoa nibs
  • Baking powder or baking soda
  • Salt

👨‍🍳 How to Make Oat Crisps

  1. Preheat oven
    • Set to 175°C / 350°F.
  2. Mix wet ingredients
    • Combine butter, sweetener, and eggs (if using) until smooth.
  3. Add dry ingredients
    • Stir in oats, flour, salt, and optional baking powder. Mix until combined.
  4. Add extras
    • Fold in nuts, dried fruit, or chocolate chips.
  5. Shape and bake
    • Drop spoonfuls onto a baking sheet or roll out and cut into rectangles.
    • Bake 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Cool and crisp
    • Let cool completely to achieve a crisp texture.

🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • As a snack with tea or coffee ☕
  • With yogurt or fruit for breakfast 🍓
  • Crumble over ice cream or desserts for added texture 🍨

💡 Tip: For extra crunch, bake a few minutes longer at slightly lower heat after the initial baking time, and store in an airtight container.
