Here’s a classic, perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich—crispy outside, melty inside 🧀

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Serves: 1
Time: ~10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, or brioche)
  • 2 slices cheese (American for classic melt, or cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, or a combo)
  • 1–2 tbsp butter (softened)
    Optional: mayo instead of butter for extra crisp

Instructions

  1. Heat pan over medium–low heat.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice (or spread mayo).
  3. Assemble: Place one slice, butter-side down, in the pan. Add cheese, then top with the second slice, butter-side up.
  4. Cook slowly 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is fully melted. Press lightly with a spatula.
  5. Rest 1 minute, slice, and enjoy.

Pro Tips

  • Low heat = better melt (too hot browns before melting).
  • Cheese blend melts best: American + cheddar is foolproof.
  • Cover the pan for 30–60 seconds to help melt thick cheese.

Tasty Add-Ins (optional)

  • Tomato slices or tomato soup on the side 🍅
  • Bacon, ham, or sliced apple
  • A sprinkle of garlic powder or Parmesan on the buttered side
