Green bean

Here’s a simple, tasty way to prepare green beans—you can make them as a side for any meal:

Sautéed Garlic Green Beans (Serves 4)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes, lemon zest, or slivered almonds

Instructions

  1. Blanch the Green Beans (Optional, for bright color & tender-crisp texture)
    • Bring a pot of salted water to boil.
    • Add green beans and cook 2–3 minutes.
    • Drain and immediately plunge into ice water to stop cooking.
  2. Sauté
    • Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Add green beans and sauté 5–7 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  3. Season & Serve
    • Season with salt, pepper, and optional toppings like red pepper flakes or almonds.
    • Toss well and serve hot.

Variations

  • Southern-style: Add diced bacon or ham for smoky flavor.
  • Asian-style: Toss with soy sauce, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds.
  • Roasted: Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and roast at 425°F (220°C) for 15–20 minutes.

If you want, I can also give a creamy green bean casserole version that’s classic for holidays.

Do you want me to do that?
