Dorito Taco Salad

Serves: 4–6

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade: 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp paprika, salt & pepper)
  • 1 bag Nacho Cheese Doritos (about 9–10 oz / 250–280 g)
  • 1 head romaine lettuce or mixed greens, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • ¼ cup diced red onion (optional)
  • ¼ cup sour cream or ranch dressing
  • ¼ cup salsa or pico de gallo

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef
    • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat.
    • Add taco seasoning and a splash of water (per package instructions), simmer 2–3 minutes.
  2. Prepare the salad base
    • In a large bowl or individual plates, crush Doritos slightly for easier eating.
    • Layer with chopped lettuce, cherry tomatoes, onions, and olives.
  3. Assemble the salad
    • Top the salad with cooked taco-seasoned beef.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
    • Drizzle with sour cream or ranch dressing and salsa/pico de gallo.
  4. Serve immediately
    • Keep Doritos slightly crunchy by adding them just before serving.
