Dirty rice with ground beef

Posted on February 23, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a flavorful Dirty Rice with Ground Beef recipe—a classic Cajun dish that’s hearty, spicy, and full of flavor:

🍚 Dirty Rice with Ground Beef

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb (≈450 g) ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth (or water with bouillon)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp Cajun or Creole seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Cook the Rice
    • Rinse rice under cold water.
    • In a medium pot, bring beef broth to a boil.
    • Add rice, cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15–20 min until rice is cooked.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef
    • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
    • Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
    • Remove excess fat if needed.
  3. Cook the Vegetables
    • In the same skillet, add onions, bell pepper, and celery.
    • Sauté 5–7 min until softened.
    • Add garlic and cook 1 min.
  4. Combine Ingredients
    • Add cooked rice to the skillet with the beef and vegetables.
    • Stir in Cajun/Creole seasoning and smoked paprika.
    • Cook 2–3 min to heat through, letting flavors meld.
  5. Serve
    • Garnish with sliced green onions.
    • Serve as a main dish or side with grilled chicken, sausage, or fried fish.

Tips

  • For extra authenticity, you can swap ground beef for a mix of ground beef and pork, or add small pieces of liver (traditional Cajun style).
  • Adjust the spice level with hot sauce or cayenne pepper.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge and taste even better the next day.

If you want, I can make a one-pot dirty rice with ground beef and Cajun spices version that cooks entirely in one pan for less cleanup and extra flavor.

Do you want me to do that?
