🍳 Basic Crockpot Chicken Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1–2 tsp dried herbs (thyme, rosemary, or Italian seasoning)
  • Optional vegetables: carrots, potatoes, celery

Steps

  1. Prepare chicken
    • Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Optional: sear in a pan 2–3 min per side for extra flavor.
  2. Layer crockpot
    • Place onion and garlic at the bottom.
    • Add chicken on top, pour in chicken broth.
    • Add vegetables if using.
  3. Cook
    • Low: 6–7 hours
    • High: 3–4 hours
    • Chicken should reach an internal temp of 75°C (165°F).
  4. Optional sauce
    • Remove chicken and vegetables.
    • Thicken juices with 1–2 tsp cornstarch mixed with water. Simmer 5 min for a gravy-like sauce.

  • Don’t overcook chicken breasts—they can dry out; thighs are more forgiving.
  • Layer vegetables under chicken so they cook evenly.
