🧾 Ingredients

For chicken:

  • 500–700 g chicken breast or thighs (bite-sized pieces)

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying

For honey garlic sauce:

  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4–5 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp ketchup (optional, for color & tang)
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil or regular oil
  • 2 tbsp water

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Marinate chicken

  • Mix chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and egg.
  • Let it sit for 15–20 minutes.

2. Coat for crispiness

  • Mix cornflour + flour.
  • Coat chicken pieces well.

3. Fry

  • Heat oil on medium-high.
  • Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy.
  • Drain on paper towels.

4. Make sauce

  • In a pan, heat a little oil.
  • Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add soy sauce, honey, vinegar, ketchup, chili flakes, and water.
  • Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thick.

5. Combine

  • Toss fried chicken in the sauce quickly.
  • Stir until evenly coated and glossy.

🍯 Serve with:

  • Steamed rice 🍚
  • Fried rice
  • Or noodles 🍜
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top
