Baked beans are a classic comfort food made from white beans (like navy or cannellini) cooked slowly in a sweet, savory, and tangy tomato-based sauce. They’re popular as a side dish, breakfast item, or sandwich filling.


🍲 Easy Baked Beans Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked or canned white beans (drained if canned)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tbsp mustard (optional)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1–2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika or chili powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Sauté aromatics:
    Heat oil in a pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft and fragrant.
  2. Add sauce & seasonings:
    Mix in tomato sauce, brown sugar, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Add beans:
    Stir in beans and cook over low heat for 15–20 minutes until sauce thickens.
  4. Serve:
    Enjoy hot with toast, rice, or as a side for grilled meats.

  • For extra flavor, add bacon or smoked ham
  • Use maple syrup for a different sweetness
