American pancakes are thick, soft, and fluffy pancakes—quite different from thin crepes or traditional desi pancakes. They’re a classic breakfast in the United States, usually served stacked with butter and syrup.

🥞 Basic American Pancake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or oil)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients—don’t overmix (a few lumps are fine).
  4. Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat and lightly grease it.
  5. Pour about ¼ cup batter for each pancake.
  6. Cook until bubbles form on top, then flip and cook the other side until golden.

🍯 Serving Ideas:

  • Butter + maple syrup (classic)
  • Honey or chocolate syrup
  • Fresh fruits (banana, berries)
  • Peanut butter or Nutella

🔑 Tips for Fluffy Pancakes:

  • Don’t overmix the batter
  • Let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes
  • Cook on medium heat (not too high)
