🥩 Smothered Pork Chops

Tender pork chops cooked in a rich, savory gravy — classic comfort food that’s perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 4 bone-in pork chops (1–1.5 inches thick)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme or ½ tsp dried
  • Optional: parsley, for garnish

🥣 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Pork Chops

  • Season pork chops generously with salt and pepper.
  • Dredge lightly in flour, shaking off excess.

2️⃣ Brown the Chops

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear pork chops 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

3️⃣ Make the Gravy

  • In the same skillet, sauté onions until soft (~3 minutes).
  • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  • Sprinkle in a little extra flour (1–2 tbsp) if you want a thicker gravy.
  • Slowly whisk in chicken broth, scraping up brown bits from the pan.
  • Stir in cream, Worcestershire, and thyme.

4️⃣ Smother the Pork Chops

  • Return pork chops to the skillet.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 15–20 minutes until pork chops are cooked through (internal temp 145°F / 63°C) and gravy thickens.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Spoon gravy and onions over the pork chops.
  • Garnish with parsley.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or green beans.
