Here’s a classic, perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich—crispy outside, melty inside 🧀
Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Serves: 1
Time: ~10 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, or brioche)
- 2 slices cheese (American for classic melt, or cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, or a combo)
- 1–2 tbsp butter (softened)
Optional: mayo instead of butter for extra crisp
Instructions
- Heat pan over medium–low heat.
- Butter one side of each bread slice (or spread mayo).
- Assemble: Place one slice, butter-side down, in the pan. Add cheese, then top with the second slice, butter-side up.
- Cook slowly 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is fully melted. Press lightly with a spatula.
- Rest 1 minute, slice, and enjoy.
Pro Tips
- Low heat = better melt (too hot browns before melting).
- Cheese blend melts best: American + cheddar is foolproof.
- Cover the pan for 30–60 seconds to help melt thick cheese.
Tasty Add-Ins (optional)
- Tomato slices or tomato soup on the side 🍅
- Bacon, ham, or sliced apple
- A sprinkle of garlic powder or Parmesan on the buttered side
