Here’s a simple, flavorful way to make grilled steak with onions—juicy steak with smoky, caramelized onion flavor.


🥩🔥 Grilled Steak with Onions

Ingredients

  • 2 beef steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin)
  • 2 large onions (sliced thick)
  • 2–3 tbsp oil (olive or vegetable)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic (minced, optional)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce (optional)

1. Marinate the steak

  • Rub steaks with salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, and a little oil
  • Add soy sauce or Worcestershire for extra depth
  • Let rest for 20–60 minutes (longer = more flavor)

2. Prepare onions

  • Toss sliced onions with oil, salt, and a pinch of pepper
  • You can also add a little vinegar or lemon juice for brightness

3. Grill the onions

  • Place onions on grill or grill pan
  • Cook until soft, slightly charred, and caramelized (8–12 minutes)
  • Remove and set aside

4. Grill the steak

  • Preheat grill until very hot
  • Cook steak:
    • Rare: 2–3 min per side
    • Medium: 4–5 min per side
    • Well done: 6–7+ min per side
  • Don’t flip too often—let it sear properly

5. Rest the steak

  • Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing
  • This keeps it juicy

6. Serve

  • Slice steak against the grain
  • Top or serve alongside grilled onions

  • Use high heat for a proper sear
  • Don’t press the steak while grilling (keeps juices inside)
