White bread

Posted on April 20, 2026 by Admin

White bread is a soft, fluffy bread made from refined wheat flour. It’s one of the most common types of bread used worldwide for sandwiches, toast, and snacks.

🍞 White Bread (Simple Homemade Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk or water
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 egg (optional, for softness and color)

🍳 Instructions

1. Activate yeast (if needed)

  • Mix yeast with warm water/milk and sugar
  • Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy

2. Make dough

  • In a bowl, mix flour and salt
  • Add yeast mixture, butter, and egg
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic

3. First rise

  • Cover dough and let it rest for 1–1.5 hours
  • It should double in size

4. Shape bread

  • Punch down dough
  • Shape into a loaf and place in greased bread pan

5. Second rise

  • Let it rise again for 30–45 minutes

6. Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes
  • Top should be golden brown
  • Tap bottom—it should sound hollow

7. Cool

  • Let it cool before slicing (important for soft texture)

💡 Tips for soft white bread

  • Use warm (not hot) liquid for yeast
  • Kneading well = softer bread
  • Butter adds richness and softness
  • Don’t cut while hot—it becomes gummy

🍽️ Uses

  • Sandwiches (ham, cheese, egg salad)
  • Toast with butter or jam
  • French toast
  • Garlic bread

🔥 Variations

  • 🥛 Milk bread (extra soft, slightly sweet)
  • 🧈 Butter bread (richer flavor)
  • 🍯 Sweet bread with honey or sugar
  • 🌾 Whole wheat mix for healthier version

If you want, I can give you a super soft bakery-style loaf, a no-oven skillet bread, or a quick 1-hour bread recipe.
