🦃 Turkey Meatballs

🧾 Ingredients (makes ~20 meatballs):

  • 500g (1 lb) ground turkey
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped or grated)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped) or 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

  1. Preheat oven (optional)
    • 180°C (350°F) if you prefer baking instead of pan-frying.
  2. Mix meatball ingredients
    • In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, onion, parsley, salt, pepper, and oregano.
    • Mix gently until just combined (overmixing can make meatballs tough).
  3. Shape meatballs
    • Roll mixture into 1–1.5 inch balls. Place on a plate or baking sheet.
  4. Cook meatballs
    • Pan-fry: Heat olive oil over medium heat. Brown meatballs on all sides (about 8–10 minutes) and then reduce heat, cover, and cook another 5 minutes until cooked through.
    • Oven-bake: Place on greased baking sheet and bake 20–25 minutes until fully cooked (internal temp 75°C / 165°F).
  5. Serve
    • Serve with pasta and marinara, in sandwiches, or with a dipping sauce.

  • Juicier meatballs: Add 1–2 tbsp milk or ricotta cheese to the mixture.
  • Spicy option: Add chili flakes or cayenne pepper.
  • Herbs: Try basil, thyme, or rosemary for extra flavor.
  • Freezing: Freeze raw meatballs on a tray, then store in a freezer bag for easy future meals.
