Teriyaki salmon

Posted on April 20, 2026 by Admin

Teriyaki salmon is a sweet-savory Japanese-inspired dish with a glossy soy-based glaze. It’s quick, healthy, and tastes like restaurant food with very little effort.

🍣 Teriyaki Salmon (Simple Home Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets
  • 1 tbsp oil (for cooking)

Teriyaki sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry, optional for thick sauce)

🍳 Instructions

1. Make the sauce

In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and water. Set aside.

2. Cook the salmon

  • Heat oil in a pan on medium-high heat
  • Place salmon skin-side down (if it has skin)
  • Cook 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through
  • Remove and set aside

3. Make teriyaki glaze

  • In the same pan, pour in sauce mixture
  • Simmer 2–3 minutes
  • Add cornstarch slurry if you want a thicker, glossy sauce

4. Combine

  • Return salmon to pan
  • Spoon sauce over it and let it glaze for 1–2 minutes

💡 Tips for best teriyaki salmon

  • Don’t overcook salmon—it should stay juicy and flaky
  • Use medium-high heat for a good sear
  • Let sauce reduce until sticky and shiny
  • Fresh ginger makes a big flavor difference

🍽️ Serving ideas

  • Steamed rice or jasmine rice
  • Stir-fried vegetables or broccoli
  • Noodles with sesame oil
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds + green onions on top

🔥 Variations

  • Spicy teriyaki: add chili flakes or sriracha
  • Honey garlic version: increase garlic and honey
  • Air fryer salmon: 180°C for ~8–10 minutes, then glaze

If you want, I can give you a restaurant-style teriyaki bowl (like Benihana style), a healthy low-sugar version, or a full Japanese meal set with miso soup and rice.
