🥔🌭 Slow Cooker Sausage and Potatoes

A hearty, no-fuss comfort meal—smoky sausage, tender potatoes, and simple seasoning all slow-cooked together until rich and flavorful.

🧾 Ingredients (4–6 servings)

  • 1–1½ kg potatoes (baby potatoes or chopped regular potatoes)
  • 400–600g smoked sausage (kielbasa, beef sausage, or chicken sausage), sliced
  • 1 onion (sliced or chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or water)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp paprika (smoked paprika is best)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

🌿 Optional add-ins

  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 cup carrots (sliced)
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (for heat)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

🍳 Instructions

1. Prep ingredients

  • Wash and cut potatoes into bite-sized pieces (halve baby potatoes or cube regular ones).
  • Slice sausage and vegetables.

2. Load the slow cooker

Add in this order:

  • Potatoes (bottom layer)
  • Onions + carrots + bell peppers (if using)
  • Sausage slices on top
  • Garlic, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper
  • Drizzle with olive oil
  • Pour in chicken broth

3. Cook

  • Low: 6–7 hours
  • High: 3–4 hours

Stir once halfway if possible.

4. Finish

  • Taste and adjust seasoning.
  • If you want a thicker, richer texture, remove lid for the last 20–30 minutes to reduce liquid.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley.

🍽️ Serving ideas

  • Serve as a full meal on its own
  • Pair with crusty bread or dinner rolls
  • Add a side salad for freshness

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Use smoked sausage for deeper flavor
  • Add a splash of cream at the end for a creamy version
  • Sprinkle cheese on top before serving for a cheesy twist
  • For crisp edges, broil sausage and potatoes for 5 minutes after slow cooking

😋 Result

Soft, buttery potatoes soaked in savory sausage juices—simple, filling, and perfect for a cozy meal.
