Here’s a simple and flavorful Garlic Butter Shrimp (Prawns) recipe—quick enough for weeknights but impressive enough for guests.

🍤 Garlic Butter Shrimp (Prawns)

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp or prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the Shrimp:
    • Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
    • Season lightly with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Cook the Garlic:
    • Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant (don’t let it brown).
  3. Cook the Shrimp:
    • Add shrimp in a single layer.
    • Cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
    • Sprinkle in red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Finish:
    • Stir in lemon juice and chopped parsley.
    • Remove from heat immediately to avoid overcooking.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve hot with rice, pasta, crusty bread, or over a fresh salad.

💡 Tips for Perfect Shrimp

  • Shrimp cook very quickly—remove from heat as soon as they turn pink.
  • Fresh lemon juice brightens the flavor.
  • Add a splash of white wine after cooking garlic for extra depth.
  • For creamy garlic shrimp, stir in ¼–½ cup heavy cream at the end and simmer 2 minutes.
