🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the patties:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt & black pepper to taste
For the gravy:
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 cup mushrooms (optional but traditional)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp flour
- Salt & pepper to taste

1️⃣ Make the Patties
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire, and seasonings.
- Form into 4 oval-shaped patties.
2️⃣ Brown the Steaks
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until browned (not fully cooked).
- Remove and set aside.
3️⃣ Make the Gravy
- In the same pan, cook onions (and mushrooms if using) until soft.
- Sprinkle in flour and stir 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in beef broth.
- Add Worcestershire and ketchup.
- Simmer until thickened.
4️⃣ Simmer Together
Return patties to the pan.
Cover and simmer 10–15 minutes until fully cooked and tender.
