Nana’s frozen fruit salad

Posted on February 20, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a nostalgic, creamy Nana’s Frozen Fruit Salad — sweet, fluffy, and perfect for holidays, potlucks, or summer gatherings 🍒🍍

🍨 Nana’s Frozen Fruit Salad

Ingredients (Serves 8–10)

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, well drained
  • 1 (15 oz) can fruit cocktail, well drained
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • ½ cup maraschino cherries, drained & chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the base
Beat softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Fold in whipped topping
Gently fold in whipped topping until combined.
  3. Add fruit & mix-ins
Stir in well-drained pineapple, fruit cocktail, marshmallows, nuts, and cherries.
  4. Freeze
Spread into a 9×9 dish or loaf pan lined with plastic wrap.
Cover and freeze at least 4–6 hours, or overnight.
  5. Serve
Let sit at room temperature 10–15 minutes before slicing into squares.

Tips for Best Texture

  • Drain fruit very well to prevent iciness.
  • Pat fruit dry with paper towels if needed.
  • For easier slicing, dip knife in warm water.

Variations

  • Add shredded coconut.
  • Swap fruit cocktail for chopped peaches and mandarin oranges.
  • Use homemade whipped cream instead of whipped topping for a fresher taste.

If you’d like, I can also give you a lighter version or one with sweetened condensed milk (extra creamy and old-school!).
