Here’s a classic, hearty Meatloaf recipe—comfort food at its best:

🍖 Classic Meatloaf

🧾 Ingredients

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef (or mix beef and pork)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • ¼ cup ketchup or tomato sauce (for topping)

🔪 Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.

2. Mix the meatloaf

  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  • Mix until just combined—don’t overwork, or meatloaf can be dense.

3. Shape & top

  • Form mixture into a loaf shape in the prepared pan.
  • Spread ketchup or tomato sauce evenly on top.

4. Bake

  • Bake 50–60 minutes, until meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 71°C (160°F).

5. Rest & serve

  • Let meatloaf rest 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, vegetables, or gravy.

🍽️ Tips

  • Use a mix of beef and pork for extra juiciness.
  • Add shredded carrots, bell peppers, or zucchini for hidden veggies.
  • For a sweeter topping, mix ketchup with a little brown sugar or honey.
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches the next day.

If you want, I can also give a slow cooker meatloaf version that stays extra moist and flavorful with minimal hands-on time.
