Ground beef

Here’s a versatile and classic ground beef recipe that’s hearty, flavorful, and easy to make:

Savory Ground Beef Skillet

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1 can (14.5 oz / 410 g) diced tomatoes (optional, for saucy version)
  • 1–2 tablespoons olive oil (if needed)
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, chopped parsley, or fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Cook the aromatics
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add olive oil (if using), diced onion, and bell pepper. Sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
    • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Brown the beef
    • Add ground beef to the skillet. Break it up with a spoon.
    • Cook until fully browned, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Season and simmer
    • Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano.
    • If using tomatoes, add them now and simmer 5–10 minutes for a saucy mixture.
  4. Serve
    • Enjoy over rice, pasta, in tacos, on baked potatoes, or as a filling for sandwiches or wraps.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce while cooking.
  • You can mix in vegetables like mushrooms, zucchini, or corn to stretch the dish and boost nutrition.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge for 3–4 days or can be frozen for up to 3 months.

If you want, I can also give a ground beef casserole version that’s cheesy, baked, and perfect for family dinners.

Do you want me to share that baked version?
