Drop biscuits

Posted on March 30, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a super easy recipe for drop biscuits—no rolling, no cutting, just mix and scoop:

🧈 Drop Biscuits (Soft & Fluffy)

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold butter (cut into small cubes)
  • 1 cup milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven
Set to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter
Add cold butter cubes and rub them into the flour using your fingers (or a pastry cutter) until the mixture looks crumbly.
  4. Add milk
Pour in milk and gently mix until just combined. Don’t overmix—the dough should be slightly sticky.
  5. Drop the dough
Use a spoon or ice cream scoop to drop rough mounds onto the tray.
  6. Bake
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden on top.
  7. Optional finish
Brush with melted butter for extra flavor.

🔥 Tips:

  • Keep butter cold for fluffy biscuits
  • Don’t overwork the dough—this keeps them soft
  • Add shredded cheese, garlic, or herbs for savory variations

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • With butter and honey or jam
  • Alongside soups or curries
  • As a base for mini sandwiches

If you want, I can give you a cheddar garlic version or a buttermilk bakery-style recipe 😄
