Baked Sweet Potatoes

Serves: 2–4

Ingredients

  • 2–4 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1–2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional toppings: butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, maple syrup, or sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
    • Set to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the sweet potatoes
    • Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes thoroughly.
    • Pat dry and pierce several times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
    • Optional: rub the skin with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt for crispier skin.
  3. Bake
    • Place sweet potatoes on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment.
    • Bake for 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until a fork or skewer easily pierces the flesh.
  4. Serve
    • Let cool for a few minutes, then slice open.
    • Add desired toppings like butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, or a drizzle of maple syrup.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra caramelized sweetness, bake at 425°F (220°C) for the last 10 minutes.
  • Sweet potatoes can also be wrapped individually in foil for a softer skin, though it won’t be as crispy.
  • Leftovers can be mashed or added to salads, soups, or casseroles.
