Chocolate peanut butter trifle 🍫🥜🍨

Chocolate Peanut Butter Trifle is a decadent layered dessert featuring alternating layers of chocolate cake, peanut butter mousse, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream. It’s visually stunning and perfect for parties because you can make it in a large glass bowl and serve portions easily.

Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

Chocolate Cake Layer

  • 1 cup chocolate cake cubes (store-bought or homemade)

Peanut Butter Mousse

  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup heavy cream (whipped to soft peaks)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Pudding Layer

  • 1 cup chocolate pudding (homemade or instant)

Whipped Cream Layer

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Optional Garnishes

  • Chocolate shavings
  • Crushed peanuts
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Drizzle of chocolate or peanut butter sauce

Instructions

1. Prepare the layers

  • Whip the peanut butter mousse: blend peanut butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla, then fold in whipped cream gently.
  • Whip cream with sugar and vanilla for the topping.

2. Assemble the trifle

  1. In a large glass bowl or individual cups, start with chocolate cake cubes.
  2. Add a layer of chocolate pudding.
  3. Spread a layer of peanut butter mousse.
  4. Repeat layers if desired.
  5. Top with whipped cream.

3. Garnish

  • Sprinkle chocolate shavings, crushed peanuts, or mini chocolate chips.
  • Optionally drizzle with chocolate or peanut butter sauce.

4. Chill

  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Serving 🍽️

  • Serve chilled in clear bowls or individual glasses for a beautiful layered effect.
  • Great for parties, potlucks, or as a festive dessert.

💡 Chef Tips

  • Use slightly stale or toasted chocolate cake for extra texture.
  • Fold the mousse gently to keep it light and airy.
  • Make in advance—the flavors improve after a few hours in the fridge.
