Butter Swim Biscuits

🧈🍪 Butter Swim Biscuits

Butter Swim Biscuits are rich, flaky, and buttery biscuits that “swim” in butter—meaning they’re served warm with a generous drizzle of melted butter on top. They’re a Southern-style treat, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or alongside fried chicken.

🧾 Ingredients

Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold butter, cubed
  • ¾ cup milk (or buttermilk for extra tenderness)

Butter for Serving

  • ¼–½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: drizzle of honey

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat to 425°F (220°C).
  • Line a baking sheet or lightly grease it.

2. Make the Biscuit Dough

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually stir in milk until just combined (do not overmix).

3. Shape and Bake

  1. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat to about 1-inch thickness.
  2. Use a round cutter or glass to cut biscuits.
  3. Place on baking sheet and bake 12–15 minutes, until golden.

4. Butter Swim Finish

  • While hot, pour melted butter over biscuits so they soak slightly (“swim” in butter).
  • Optional: drizzle a little honey for sweetness.

🍽️ Serving

  • Serve warm as a breakfast side, brunch item, or with fried chicken or gravy.

⭐ Pro Tip:
For extra-flaky layers, fold the dough over itself once or twice before cutting the biscuits.

I can also provide a copycat restaurant-style Butter Swim Biscuits recipe that mimics the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture you get at Bojangles’.

Do you want me to make that version?
