🍍🍒 Glazed Ham with Pineapple and Cherries
A classic sweet-savory centerpiece, especially popular for holidays like Easter and Christmas. The caramelized glaze with pineapple and cherries gives the ham a beautiful glossy finish and rich flavor.
🧾 Ingredients
- 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (about 3–4 kg / 6–8 lb)
- 1 can pineapple slices (reserve the juice)
- 10–15 maraschino cherries
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- ¼ tsp ground cloves (optional but traditional)
- Toothpicks
- 2–3 tbsp butter
👩🍳 Instructions
- Preheat oven
Heat your oven to 175°C (350°F). - Prepare the ham
- Place the ham in a roasting pan.
- Score the surface in a diamond pattern with a knife.
- Arrange pineapple & cherries
- Place pineapple slices over the ham.
- Put a cherry in the center of each slice.
- Secure with toothpicks.
- Make the glaze
In a saucepan combine:- Brown sugar
- Honey
- Dijon mustard
- ½ cup pineapple juice
- Butter
- Ground cloves
Simmer for 3–5 minutes until slightly thick.
- Glaze the ham
Brush the glaze generously over the ham. - Bake
- Cover loosely with foil.
- Bake about 1½–2 hours, depending on size.
- Every 20 minutes, baste with the glaze and pan juices.
- Final caramelization
Remove foil for the last 20 minutes so the glaze becomes glossy and slightly caramelized.
