Hereβs a juicy, flavorful Smash Burger recipe β crispy edges, melty cheese, and all the classic burger goodness. ππ₯
Ingredients (per 2 burgers)
- 450 g Ground Beef (80/20 for best juiciness)
- Salt & Black Pepper to taste
- 2 Burger Buns
- 2 slices Cheddar Cheese (or cheese of choice)
- Optional toppings: Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, Onions
- Optional condiments: Ketchup, Mustard, Mayonnaise
- 1β2 tbsp Vegetable Oil or butter for cooking
Instructions
- Preheat the skillet
- Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy pan over high heat. Lightly oil the surface.
- Form beef balls
- Divide beef into 2 equal portions and loosely form into balls. Do not compact too much.
- Smash the burger
- Place a beef ball in the hot skillet. Using a spatula (or burger press), smash it down firmly to about 1 cm thickness.
- Season
- Immediately season the patty with salt and black pepper.
- Cook & flip
- Cook for 2β3 minutes until edges are crispy and brown.
- Flip once, place a slice of cheese on top, and cook another 1β2 minutes until cheese melts and burger is cooked through.
- Toast buns
- Lightly butter the buns and toast in a separate pan or oven until golden.
- Assemble
- Place the patty on the bun and add desired toppings and condiments.
- Serve
- Enjoy immediately while hot and juicy. Serve with fries or a side salad.
Tips
- High heat is key for crispy edges and flavor.
- Donβt press the patty after flipping β it keeps the juiciness.
- Smash burgers are best thin and fast-cooked, unlike thick gourmet burgers.
I can also give a double smash burger version with two patties and special sauce if you want an extra indulgent recipe. Do you want that version?
