Here’s a sweet and crunchy treat: Saltine Cracker Toffee — buttery, salty, and chocolatey. 🍫🍪✨
Ingredients
- 40–50 Saltine Crackers (enough to cover a baking sheet)
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup Brown Sugar, packed
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 cups Chocolate Chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
- Optional toppings: Chopped Nuts, sea salt
Instructions
- Prep the pan
- Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the bottom.
- Make the toffee
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and stir in brown sugar.
- Bring to a boil for 3–5 minutes, stirring constantly, until smooth and bubbly.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour over crackers
- Immediately pour the hot toffee evenly over the saltine crackers. Spread to cover all pieces.
- Bake
- Optional: bake at 175°C (350°F) for 5–8 minutes to let the toffee set slightly.
- Add chocolate
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee.
- Let sit 5 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.
- Add optional nuts or sea salt.
- Cool & cut
- Refrigerate or let sit at room temperature until fully set (about 1–2 hours).
- Lift out of pan using parchment paper and cut into squares.
Tips
- Don’t overboil the toffee — it will harden too quickly and become brittle.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge.
