🍬 Homemade Hard Candy
Making hard candy at home is simple and only needs a few ingredients. You can flavor and color it however you like.
🧾 Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- ¾ cup water
- ⅔ cup light corn syrup
- 1 tsp flavoring (peppermint, lemon, strawberry, etc.)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
🍳 Equipment
- Heavy saucepan
- Candy thermometer
- Baking sheet or silicone mat
👨🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the pan
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
2️⃣ Heat the sugar mixture
In a saucepan combine:
- Sugar
- Water
- Corn syrup
Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
3️⃣ Boil to hard crack stage
Stop stirring and let the mixture boil until it reaches 150°C (300°F) on a candy thermometer.
4️⃣ Add flavor and color
Remove from heat and quickly stir in:
- Flavoring
- Food coloring
5️⃣ Pour the candy
Pour the hot syrup onto the prepared pan in a thin layer.
6️⃣ Cool and break
Let it cool completely, then break into pieces.
7️⃣ Dust with powdered sugar
Lightly coat pieces so they don’t stick together.

⚠️ Important Tips
- The sugar mixture is extremely hot, so be careful.
