Salmon Patties 🐟🍽️

Salmon patties are savory, pan-fried cakes made from canned or cooked salmon, mixed with breadcrumbs, eggs, and seasonings. They’re a quick and budget-friendly way to enjoy seafood.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (14–15 oz) canned salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil or butter for frying
  • Optional: chopped parsley or lemon juice for flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mixture
In a bowl, combine flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. If too wet, add more breadcrumbs.
  2. Form patties
Shape mixture into 6–8 evenly sized patties.
  3. Cook the patties
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through.
  4. Serve
Place on a paper towel briefly to remove excess oil, then serve hot.

Serving Ideas 🍽️

  • Serve with tartar sauce or a squeeze of lemon
  • Pair with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables
  • Make a salmon burger by placing the patty on a bun with lettuce and tomato

💡 Tip:

  • For extra crispiness, lightly coat patties with additional breadcrumbs before frying.
  • You can also bake them at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through, for a healthier version.

I can also provide a southern-style salmon patties recipe with onions and bell peppers if you want a more flavorful twist.
