Chicken Marsala 🍗🍄

Chicken Marsala is a classic Italian-American dish featuring pan-seared chicken breasts in a savory Marsala wine and mushroom sauce. It’s elegant yet easy to make at home.


Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts, thinly pounded
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • ¾ cup Marsala wine
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp butter (optional, for finishing)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken
    Season chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge lightly in flour, shaking off excess.
  2. Cook chicken
    Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook mushrooms
    In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms (and garlic if using) until soft and lightly browned.
  4. Make the sauce
    Add Marsala wine and chicken broth, scraping up browned bits from the pan. Simmer 5–7 minutes until slightly reduced.
  5. Finish the dish
    Return chicken to the pan. Spoon sauce over the top. Stir in butter for extra richness if desired.
  6. Garnish and serve
    Sprinkle with chopped parsley. Serve hot.

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice
  • Pair with steamed green beans or asparagus
  • Add crusty bread to soak up the sauce

💡 Tip: For a lighter version, substitute half of the Marsala wine with chicken broth.
