🍗 Korean Fried Chicken (Crispy & Sweet-Spicy)
Korean fried chicken is extra crispy on the outside and juicy inside, usually coated in a sticky, sweet-spicy sauce. Perfect for a snack, appetizer, or meal. 🌶️
🧾 Ingredients
Chicken
- 2 lbs (900 g) chicken wings or drumettes
- ½ cup cornstarch or potato starch
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
Sauce
- ¼ cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp honey or corn syrup
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Optional: ½ tsp ginger, minced
Garnish
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the chicken
- Pat chicken wings dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Toss in cornstarch until evenly coated.
2️⃣ Fry the chicken
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F / 175°C.
- Fry chicken in batches 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
3️⃣ Make the sauce
- In a small saucepan, combine gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil, and ginger.
- Simmer 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
4️⃣ Coat the chicken
- Toss fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
5️⃣ Serve
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot.

- Double-fry chicken for extra crispiness: fry once at lower temp, rest, then fry again at higher temp.
