🥔 Classic Baked Potato

A simple, fluffy, and comforting potato—perfect as a side dish or topped with your favorite fillings. 🌿🧈


🧾 Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • Salt (coarse or kosher)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, chives, butter, or herbs

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven

Preheat oven to 200°C / 400°F.

2️⃣ Prepare potatoes

  1. Scrub potatoes clean and pat dry.
  2. Prick each potato several times with a fork.
  3. Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

3️⃣ Bake

Place potatoes directly on the oven rack or a baking sheet. Bake 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until skin is crisp and a fork easily pierces the flesh.

4️⃣ Serve

Slice open the top, fluff the inside with a fork, and add toppings as desired.


🍽️ Tips & Variations

  • For extra crisp skin, rub with garlic powder or paprika before baking.
  • Microwave first for faster cooking: 5–7 minutes per potato, then finish in the oven for crisp skin.
  • Top with chili, steamed broccoli, or shredded chicken for a hearty meal.
