Here’s a classic meatloaf recipe — hearty, flavorful, and perfect for a comforting meal 🍽️🥩.

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 500 g ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning

Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Preheat to 180°C (350°F).
  • Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.

2. Mix the meatloaf

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  2. Mix gently until combined — don’t overmix to keep it tender.

3. Shape and top

  • Shape mixture into a loaf and place in the prepared pan.
  • Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top for a glaze.

4. Bake

  • Bake 45–55 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 71°C (160°F).
  • Optional: broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for a caramelized top.

5. Rest and serve

  • Let meatloaf rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or green beans.

💡 Tips

  • Add grated carrots or zucchini for extra moisture and nutrition.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for a lighter texture.
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches!
