Air fryer prime rib

Posted on March 10, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a method to make Air Fryer Prime Rib — juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked with a crispy crust 🥩✨.

Ingredients

  • 1–2 kg prime rib roast (bone-in or boneless)
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary (chopped) or 1 tsp dried
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1–2 tsp salt
  • ½–1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. Prep the prime rib

  1. Remove the roast from the fridge 30–60 minutes before cooking to reach room temperature.
  2. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub with olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.

2. Preheat air fryer

  • Preheat to 180°C (350°F) for 5 minutes.

3. Cook the roast

  • Place the prime rib in the air fryer basket, fat side up.
  • Cook at 180°C (350°F):
    • Rare: 20–25 minutes per 500 g
    • Medium-rare: 25–30 minutes per 500 g
    • Medium: 30–35 minutes per 500 g

(Use a meat thermometer for best results: 52°C / 125°F for rare, 57°C / 135°F for medium-rare, 63°C / 145°F for medium.)

4. Rest

  • Remove from the air fryer and cover loosely with foil.
  • Rest for 10–15 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.

5. Serve

  • Slice against the grain.
  • Serve with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a rich gravy.

💡 Tips

  • If your air fryer is small, cut the roast into smaller portions for even cooking.
  • For extra crust, sear the roast in a hot pan for 1–2 minutes per side before air frying.
  • Let the meat rest — skipping this step can make it less juicy.

I can also give a garlic herb butter air fryer prime rib version that adds an extra flavor punch.

Do you want me to share that version?
