🥧 Classic Apple Pie

Warm, cinnamon-spiced apples baked in a flaky, golden crust — a timeless favorite.


🛒 Ingredients (Serves 8)

Crust (or use 2 store-bought pie crusts):

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

Filling:

  • 6–7 medium apples (Granny Smith + Honeycrisp or Fuji work great)
  • ¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour or cornstarch
  • 1½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter (for dotting)

Optional:

  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sugar for sprinkling

🔥 Instructions

1️⃣ Make crust (if homemade)

  • Mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  • Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add ice water gradually until dough comes together.
  • Divide into 2 discs, wrap, and chill 1 hour.

2️⃣ Prepare filling

  • Peel, core, and slice apples.
  • Toss with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.

3️⃣ Assemble pie

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out bottom crust and place in 9-inch pie dish.
  • Add apple filling and dot with butter.
  • Top with second crust (full top or lattice).
  • Seal edges and cut vents.
  • Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sugar if desired.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake 45–55 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbling.
  • Cover edges with foil if browning too quickly.

5️⃣ Cool

  • Let cool at least 2 hours before slicing (helps filling set).

  • Mix tart and sweet apples for best flavor.
  • Slice apples evenly for consistent baking.
  • Place pie on a baking sheet to catch drips.
