🍗 Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy

Tender, juicy chicken cooked low and slow in a rich, savory gravy — perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.


🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 4–6 bone-in, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (optional, for searing)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour or cornstarch
  • ½ cup heavy cream or milk (optional for creamier gravy)
  • Optional: fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or parsley

🔥 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep chicken

  • Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder.
  • Optional: sear in olive oil 2–3 minutes per side for extra flavor.

2️⃣ Add to crock pot

  • Place chicken, onion, and garlic in the slow cooker.
  • Pour chicken broth over top.

3️⃣ Cook

  • LOW: 6–7 hours
  • HIGH: 3–4 hours
  • Chicken should be fully cooked (165°F / 74°C) and tender.

4️⃣ Make gravy

  • Remove chicken and keep warm.
  • Mix flour/cornstarch with a small amount of cold broth to make a slurry.
  • Stir slurry into crock pot juices.
  • Cook on HIGH 10–15 minutes until thickened.
  • Optional: stir in cream or milk for creamier gravy.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Serve chicken with gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

🌿 Tips & Variations

  • Add sliced mushrooms, carrots, or potatoes for a complete one-pot meal.
  • Use bone-in chicken for extra flavor in the gravy.
  • Make extra gravy to serve over biscuits or roasted vegetables.
  • For thicker gravy, gradually stir in 1–2 tbsp flour or cornstarch mixed with water.
