🍗 Crispy Fried Chicken

Golden, crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside — a classic comfort food favorite.

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4–6 chicken pieces (breasts, thighs, drumsticks, or wings)
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

🔥 Instructions

1️⃣ Marinate chicken

  • Submerge chicken pieces in buttermilk, cover, and refrigerate 1–4 hours (or overnight) for juiciness.

2️⃣ Prepare coating

  • In a shallow bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.

3️⃣ Coat chicken

  • Remove chicken from buttermilk, let excess drip off.
  • Dredge thoroughly in flour mixture. Press lightly to stick.

4️⃣ Heat oil

  • Pour 1–2 inches of vegetable oil into a heavy skillet or deep fryer.
  • Heat to 350°F (175°C).

5️⃣ Fry chicken

  • Fry chicken in batches, avoiding overcrowding.
  • Cook 12–15 minutes per side (depending on size), until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Drain on paper towels.

6️⃣ Serve

  • Serve hot with your favorite sides: mashed potatoes, coleslaw, corn, or biscuits.

🌿 Tips & Variations

  • For extra crunch, double-dip: buttermilk → flour → buttermilk → flour.
  • Season flour well for more flavorful crust.
  • Try adding dried herbs or Parmesan to flour for a unique twist.
  • Keep fried chicken warm in a 200°F (95°C) oven while cooking remaining pieces.

If you want, I can also give you:

  • Oven-baked crispy fried chicken (healthier version)
  • Spicy Nashville-style fried chicken
  • Buttermilk-brined fried chicken with extra-crispy coating
