Slow cooker ribs

Posted on March 3, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a foolproof way to make tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs in a slow cooker.

🍖 Slow Cooker Ribs

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 2–3 lbs pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1–2 tsp chili powder for spice

🔥 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the ribs

  • Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs (for tenderness).
  • Rub both sides with brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

2️⃣ Add to slow cooker

  • Roll or cut ribs to fit.
  • Pour ½ cup BBQ sauce over the ribs (reserve the rest for basting).

3️⃣ Cook

  • LOW: 6–8 hours
  • HIGH: 3–4 hours
  • Ribs should be tender and easily pull apart with a fork.

4️⃣ Finish (Optional, for caramelized glaze)

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or use a grill.
  • Brush ribs with remaining BBQ sauce.
  • Bake or grill 5–10 minutes until slightly caramelized.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Slice between bones and serve with extra sauce.
  • Perfect with coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread.

🌿 Tips

  • For extra smoky flavor, add 1 tsp liquid smoke to the slow cooker.
  • You can layer ribs with sliced onions or a splash of apple juice for added moisture.
  • Don’t skip the finishing step if you want sticky, caramelized ribs — slow cooker alone won’t brown them.

If you want, I can give you three tasty variations:

  1. Honey Garlic Slow Cooker Ribs
  2. Asian-style Soy-Ginger Ribs
  3. Spicy Chipotle Ribs

Do you want me to make those variations?
