🍟 Classic French Fries

Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside — a timeless snack or side that pairs with burgers, sandwiches, or just about anything.

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 2–4)

  • 4 medium russet potatoes
  • 3–4 cups vegetable or canola oil (for frying)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: pepper, paprika, garlic powder, or herbs for seasoning

🥣 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Potatoes

  1. Peel (optional) and cut potatoes into sticks ~¼–½ inch thick.
  2. Soak cut potatoes in cold water 30 minutes to remove excess starch — helps make fries crispy.
  3. Drain and pat completely dry.

2️⃣ Heat Oil

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large heavy skillet to 325–350°F (160–175°C).

3️⃣ First Fry (Blanch)

  • Fry potatoes in batches 3–4 minutes until pale and slightly softened.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

4️⃣ Second Fry (Crisping)

  • Increase oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  • Fry potatoes again 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Drain on paper towels and season immediately with salt.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Serve hot with ketchup, mayo, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Crispier Fries: Double-fry method is key.
  • Seasoning Options: Garlic powder, smoked paprika, Parmesan, or fresh herbs.
  • Oven-Baked Version: Toss potatoes in oil, bake at 425°F (220°C) 25–30 minutes flipping halfway for healthier fries.
  • Shoestring vs. Steak Fries: Cut thickness according to preference — thinner fries cook faster and get crispier.

If you want, I can also give you:

  • Air-fryer French fries
  • Garlic Parmesan fries
  • Curly or crinkle-cut style fries
  • Sweet potato fries version

Do you want them thin and extra crispy or thicker and fluffy inside?
