Posted on February 19, 2026 by Admin

🧀 Crispy Pan-Fried Halloumi

Golden, crispy on the outside, soft and squeaky on the inside — a quick, Mediterranean-inspired treat perfect as an appetizer, salad topping, or side dish.

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 2–4)

  • 8 oz (225g) halloumi cheese, sliced ¼–½ inch thick
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil or neutral oil
  • Optional: lemon wedges, fresh herbs (mint, parsley), or chili flakes

🥣 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Halloumi

  • Pat halloumi slices dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture — this helps achieve crispiness.

2️⃣ Heat the Pan

  • Heat 1–2 tbsp oil in a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.

3️⃣ Fry the Halloumi

  • Place slices in the hot pan.
  • Cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan — fry in batches if necessary.

4️⃣ Serve

  • Serve immediately while warm and crispy.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice on top and sprinkle with herbs or chili flakes if desired.
  • Great on salads, with roasted vegetables, or in sandwiches.

🔥 Tips & Variations

Extra Crispy

  • Pat slices very dry and cook without moving them until a golden crust forms.

Flavor Boosters

  • Sprinkle smoked paprika, za’atar, or black pepper before frying.
  • Serve with honey or balsamic glaze for sweet-savory contrast.

Pairings

  • Tomato and cucumber salad
  • Roasted peppers and olives
  • Grilled flatbread or pita

Make-Ahead

  • Slice in advance but fry just before serving for best texture.

If you want, I can also give you:

  • Oven-baked crispy halloumi for less oil
  • Halloumi fries with dipping sauce
  • Mediterranean platter with halloumi, veggies, and dips

Do you want them thicker and chewy inside or thin and extra crispy?
