Biscuits from the heart

Posted on January 17, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a warm, “Biscuits from the Heart” recipe — homemade, tender, buttery biscuits that feel like a hug from the inside ❤️

Biscuits from the Heart (Flaky, Tender, Comforting)

Makes: ~8–10 biscuits
Time: ~30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all‑purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2–3 tsp sugar (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ¾–1 cup cold buttermilk (or milk with 1 tbsp lemon juice/vinegar)
  • Optional for brushing: melted butter
  • (Optional) Sprinkle of flaky salt or herbs

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet or use parchment.
  2. Mix dry ingredients:
In a large bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar (if using).
  3. Cut in butter:
Add the cold butter cubes and cut them into the flour with a pastry cutter or two knives until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs — a few pea‑sized bits of butter should remain. That’s what makes them flaky!
  4. Add buttermilk:
Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently stir with a fork until the dough just comes together. Don’t overmix — it should be slightly shaggy.
  5. Fold dough:
Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Fold it over 2–3 times to help layers form (gently — not kneading).
  6. Shape and cut:
Pat into a ~1‑inch thick round. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass dipped in flour to cut shapes, pushing straight down (don’t twist).
  7. Bake:
Place biscuits close together for soft sides or spaced apart for crustier sides. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden on top.
  8. Finish with love:
Brush warm biscuits with melted butter. Serve hot.
