🍳 Simple Pepper Steak Recipe

Ingredients

  • 300–400g beef (thinly sliced; sirloin or flank works best)
  • 2 bell peppers (green/red, sliced)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
  • 1 tsp black pepper (freshly ground for best flavor)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (for thickening)
  • ½ cup water or broth
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Prep the beef
    • Slice thinly against the grain
    • Mix with a little soy sauce + cornstarch (optional for tenderness)
  2. Cook the beef
    • Heat oil in a pan or wok
    • Stir-fry beef quickly until browned, then remove
  3. Cook vegetables
    • In the same pan, sauté garlic, onions, and bell peppers
    • Cook until slightly tender but still crisp
  4. Combine & sauce
    • Add beef back in
    • Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and water
    • Stir and cook until sauce thickens
  5. Serve
    • Best served hot with rice or noodles 🍚
