Meatloaf

Meatloaf is a classic comfort food made from ground meat mixed with breadcrumbs, eggs, and seasonings, then baked into a loaf shape. It’s hearty, flavorful, and pairs well with mashed potatoes or vegetables.


🍖 Classic Meatloaf Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven:
    Set to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Mix ingredients:
    In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except extra ketchup. Mix until just combined.
  3. Shape the loaf:
    Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place in a greased baking pan.
  4. Add topping:
    Spread extra ketchup on top for a glaze.
  5. Bake:
    Bake for 45–55 minutes until fully cooked and internal temperature reaches 70°C.
  6. Rest & serve:
    Let it rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.

🍽 Serving Ideas:

  • With mashed potatoes and gravy
  • With roasted vegetables
  • In sandwiches (leftovers taste great!)

💡 Tips:

  • Don’t overmix the meat—keeps it tender
  • You can add grated carrots, bell peppers, or cheese for extra flavor
  • Use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking
