🛒 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups navy beans, kidney beans, or white beans (cooked)

  • 2–3 tbsp molasses, brown sugar, or honey

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional for depth)
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1–2 tbsp oil

🔪 Method

1. Sauté aromatics

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Sauté onion and garlic until soft and fragrant.

2. Add sauce ingredients

  • Stir in tomato sauce, mustard, molasses/brown sugar, Worcestershire (if using), paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Let simmer 3–5 minutes to combine flavors.

3. Add beans

  • Add cooked beans and gently mix.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • For a thicker sauce, simmer uncovered.

4. Optional oven finish

  • Transfer beans to an oven-safe dish.
  • Bake at 180°C for 15–20 minutes to deepen flavors.

  • Smoky flavor: Add smoked paprika or a dash of liquid smoke.
  • Spicy: Add a small chopped chili or cayenne powder.
  • Meaty version: Stir in cooked bacon or sausage pieces.
